Né en Syrie, Muhammad Imad Mahouk a suivi ses études de calligraphie à la bibliothèque de la Suleymaniye à Istanbul dont il sort diplômé en 1990. De retour à Alep, il a son atelier personnel à la mosquée Al-Sultaniaa. Lorsqu'en 2006, Alep est décrétée ville culturelle de l'Islam, c'est à lui qu'est confié le dessin du timbre édité en cette occasion. Muhammad Imad Mahmouk a également travaillé en Arabie Saoudite pour la bibliothèque du Roi Abdul'Aziz, a calligraphié un coran pour le roi Abdallah et a dessiné le riyal saoudien. Actuellement, il réside à Istanbul où il poursuit son oeuvre de calligraphe. Born in Syria, Muhammad Imad Mahmouk studied calligraphy at the Suleymaniye library in Istanbul, from which he graduated in 1990. Back in Aleppo, he has his personal studio at the Al-Sultaniaa mosque. When in 2006, Aleppo was declared a cultural city of Islam, he was entrusted with the design of the stamp published on this occasion. Muhammad Imad Mahmouk also worked in Saudi Arabia for the King Abdul'Aziz Library, penned a Quran for King Abdullah and drew the Saudi Riyal. Currently, he resides in Istanbul where he continues his work as a calligrapher.
