So Unique: Baya in Paris
Three works by the artist presented in Paris on 10 November

Woman with blue vase, 81
10 000 € - 12 000 €
The artist whose first exhibition in Paris, in 1947 at the age of 16, was prefaced by André Breton and organised by Aimé Maeght, is the prestigious and unique guest of honour in this new "SO UNIQUE " sale format developed over the last 3 years by La Maison MILLON.
Exceptionally, the sale will feature several works from a single private collection, rather than just one. Another highlight is that the sale will take place directly over the rooftops of Paris, above the Place du TROCADÉRO, facing the Iron Lady! From 1931 to 1998, Baya, the "queen" with the "flowery gaze " celebrated by André Breton and AssiaDjebbar, each in her own time, spanned a large part of twentieth-century history.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, audiences have been rediscovering BAYA, née Fatma Haddad (1931-1998). After New York in 2017 and Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) in 2021, Paris is once again devoting an eponymous exhibition to the artist ("Baya, Femmes en leur jardin. Œuvres et archives 1944-1998", Institut du mondeearabe, from 8 November 2022 to 26 March 2023).
At the same time, the MILLON auction house is presenting a sale dedicated to this artist, who belongs to the generation of founders of modern Algerian painting.

"Once upon a time, there was a little girl who liked to take refuge in the dark. She was born in December, when winter knocks at the door and hearts grow cold... But the angel who watched over her guided her hand. He began by teaching her how to lock up her suffering in silence: every time her grief made her sad, her hand released a zoizeau."
Baya, l'île aux zoizeaux, Hassen Bouabdellah.

Female flautist €20,000 - €30,000
